Dive Staff (Resource Employee)

Part-time (as-needed), not eligible for USC Benefits

Preferred Start Date: Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and positions are filled as needed

Location: Primarily Wrigley Marine Science Center, Santa Catalina Island; some work in Los Angeles and along the Southern California coast

We are currently seeking AAUS-certified scuba divers to facilitate underwater research projects and assist with our Scientific Diving programs. The candidates may work closely with the Diving Safety Officer (DSO) to maintain dive program equipment and ensure that proper safety methods and procedures are followed. Work will take place primarily on Catalina Island at the Wrigley Marine Science Center, but staff may also assist with dives at USC’s Los Angeles campus and around the Southern California area. As this is a part-time position, successful candidates are not required to live on Catalina Island.

Adjunct Professor of Sustainability Management (Open Rank)

Part-time contract basis, not eligible for USC Benefits

Contract Term: Per semester

USC seeks adjunct professors to teach courses in our online Master of Science in Sustainability Management program. The successful candidate should possess a Ph.D. or equivalent professional degree, as well as relevant professional experience in the field of sustainability management; or a master’s degree with extensive professional experience in the field. Preference will be given to candidates with significant prior online teaching experience combined with academic credentials, relevant professional experience in the field, and a history of receiving excellent teaching evaluations.

Coastal Extension Specialist – Resilience (USC Sea Grant) 

Full-time, grant-funded with benefits

The USC Sea Grant Program is seeking an experienced outreach professional to lead coastal resilience extension efforts in climate resilience. The position includes support for the regional AdaptLA program, which works to advance regional sea level rise and coastal impacts planning processes by linking coastal jurisdictions to the best available science.

Facilities Manager

Full-time, eligible for USC Benefits

Location: Wrigley Marine Science Center, Catalina Island (living on-island not required)

We are currently seeking a Facilities Manager for the Wrigley Marine Science Center (WMSC), the institute’s satellite campus on Santa Catalina Island. Reporting to the Associate Director of Operations at WMSC, the successful candidate will provide leadership for and oversee all WMSC facilities and ensure that standards for a safe and efficient operation are maintained. The Facilities Manager leads a team of facilities professionals in day-to-day and emergency maintenance of WMSC facilities, oversees renovation projects, and ensures effective cooperation with the USC Facilities Planning and Management team. Candidates should have a hands-on facilities or construction background as well as business, leadership, and relationship-building skills.
